Cats, cats, cats

We read the fantastic book Cats, Cats, Cats by Joy Cowley. We wrote about the cats we would love to have.

The hunting cat is brave and strong. He can lift a house and hold a person in the air. It can fly with no wings. He can camouflage in the clouds with secret buttons. - Mia

The friendly cat purrs all the time on people's laps. He sleeps on my bed even in the morning. In the morning I pat him. - Jed

The friendly cat is a tabby. It sits under trees on hot sunny days. On rainy days he sits on my bed. His name is Smokey. He likes to climb on fences. - Hayley

Respect in our school

In Room 12 we have been talking about who and what needs respect in our school. We sent our camera crews around the school to get some ideas and to take pictures of what we should respect. This was the GET IT part of the Powerful Learning model. Then we SORTED all the pictures out and put them in these three groups - All living things, places in our school and things in our school. We asked the question "What if there was no respect in our school?" We decided that we were very happy that Red Beach School had very respectful children, teachers and parents. That is what makes us great!

Making a jam sandwich

Yesterday Room 12 made a jam sandwich. First of all we had to get everything out that we needed to make a jam sandwich. When we got that done we started to put the soft butter on the yummy bread. Afterwards we put the sweet jam on one slice of bread. Then we put the pieces of bread together and chopped it in half and Olivia took a big bite. - Charlotte

Yesterday I made a jam sandwich. First of all we needed to spread out the bread and everything else. Then we got two pieces of bread. Not long after Charlotte spread the butter. Then Jaydee spread the jam and Tyler put the bread onto each other. Then she cut the bread. Last of all Olivia had a huge bite out of the fantastic jam sandwich. - Hamish H.

Not long after Jaydee put jam on the bread. Finally Tyler closed the two pieces of bread and cut the two super pieces of bread. After that Olivia took a bite. - Alannah

PE - 3 bats game

In PE we have been learning how to play the 3 bats game. We have had such fun learning how to bat and how to field. We are learning many new skills for the game such as throwing and catching. We are learning to run between the bases after we have batted and we have been practising how to throw the ball to each other when we field. We have found out that it is okay to make mistakes and we keep on trying to find better ways to do things. We persevere even when we are really tired! We love PE!

Stunning Statistics

In Maths we were studying statistics. We also learnt so much about each other. We had to get the information, sort it into groups and then we had many discussions about how we could use this information.

Our Albatross Community

Our Albatross Community got together and we met with our buddies to find out all about each other. We had such fun with the parachute and we learnt that we had to work together as a team. We had a great time!
