Our Puppet Show

Room 12's Puppet Shows on PhotoPeach

Yesterday our class did a puppet show. My puppet was a beautiful orange mouse. Hamish’s was a big, mean wolf and Tyler’s was the frog and Atalia was the frightening cat. Our fingers had to get through the head and arms of the puppet. Our show was magnificent. – Poppy

Yesterday Room 12 did a puppet show. It was an awesome puppet show. I wish we could do it again. – Tyler S

If I made a puppet show up I wouldn’t have much fighting. I would have 19 characters. We would first make a plan. Our characters would face the audience. – Jaydee

On Tuesday my class did a puppet show. We were happy and laughing. Mary, Charlotte and I were in the group. We were the funniest ones. – Wian

Yesterday our class made a puppet show. There was a frog, a cat, a fox and a mouse. They were in a dark scary forest. They saw shiny treasure. – Remy

My perfect puppet show. It would be set in a house and there would be a cat and a mouse. The cat would chase the mouse and the cat would fight every day. It would be funny and the funny mouse would win. The plot would be the cat trying to catch the mouse. – Jed

In my perfect puppet show the setting will be in the woods. The props will be a little house with a trap door, a castle and a treasure box. The characters will be frog, mouse, cat and wolf. I will face the audience and speak loudly and clearly. - Hayley

Our African stories

Room 12 has been writing amazing African animal stories. Read these wonderful tales ...

My African Story. How the cheetah got its spots. Characters – Man, cheetah, Zebra and Giraffe. Now the story begins …Once upon a time there was a cheetah and a man who lived in a cold and frosty place. It was so chilly that the man said, “Let’s run away from home because I’m sick of this weather!”
“Okay,” replied the cheetah, “But where?”
“Africa!” screamed the man, “Can’t you remember?” So off they went and traveled for one thousand days. When they arrived in Africa they were so exhausted they had to sleep for a week! Africa was so hot and dusty that the man started turning brown. A few minutes later a stripy zebra and a dotty giraffe plodded by. “
“Hey, what’s happening to that cheetah’s golden skin?” cried the zebra.
“He’s turning spotty like me!” The giraffe said. (in a shocked voice) They crept closer and saw the mans fingers (which were turning brown) cuddling the cheetah. He started moving his fingers around and left spots on his body! So that’s the story of how cheetah got his spots! – Mia

In the African planes there was this angry leopard called Lightning and there was a mouse called Timmy that was so curious. Timmy had a plan. One night in the cold frosty winter, when Lightning was sleeping on his wonderful comfortable tree, Timmy went to a store and stole some soil and stole a pot to carry the soil in. He ran out of the shop and went back to his house to get ready to pour it all over Lighting. Timmy asked his best friend Pork the Morpork to help carry the soil. When they got to Lightning’s favorite tree, Timmy asked Pork to help carry the soil and him up into the tree. When they got up into Lightning’s favorite tree, it had sparkly castle lights glowing all around them. They spread the soil all over him. Lightning was asleep. Timmy jumped onto Pork’s back and they flew as fast as the could back to Timmy’s house. The next sunny beautiful morning, Lightning woke up with a fright. He saw that someone had poured soil all over him. He shook himself off and after he had done that he saw that he had black spots all over him and he couldn’t be angry anymore. And the animals lived happily ever after. – Hayley

Here comes the lion
It was a hot day so the lion went to the pond. Then he saw three flamingoes. Then he hid behind a log. This will be a good tea. He jumped out then he let out a mighty roar. The three flamingoes zoomed off. Then he hopped into the cold refreshing pool. The three flamingoes felt sad. Then the lion saw Ele the elephant. She got scratched on the back. He got put in animal jail because Ele’s dad was a policeman. – Anya

Once upon a time in the forest a water buck lay in the shade. Water buck went to eat. There was glue on the tree. Water buck got stuck. Elephant came to help. Elephant pulled his hardest. Some tree pieces came out. Now water buck has got horns. - Jaydee

My African story of how the Springbok became so fast. Once upon a time there was a Springbok called Poppy. She saw a lion. The lion saw Poppy and ran after her. She ran for her life and when she was running, she was getting faster and faster. Soon she was as fast as lightning. (But she was not as fast as an All Black!)

The Lion King

This is a great story set in Africa. It was first a movie and then it was made into a stage show. We are studying what makes a powerful performance. Have a look at this performance from the Lion King and discuss with your family what the actors have done to make this so successful. Look at the costumes and the way the actors move too. What ideas can we use in our production?

Obstacle course

For Oracy we did an amazing obstacle course. Mrs Watt thought of a brilliant idea that we could make it ourselves. First we jumped from lily pad to lily pad it was like having springs on my feet. Then it was the high jump. It was like flying in the blue sky. Then it was the squeezy chairs. I slithered along the ground. The last thing was the limbo. I could not do it. – Anya

We made an obstacle course. We jumped on lily pads. We did limbo. We went under chairs. We went over the table. It was fun. – Riley

Yesterday room 12 did an obstacle course and we started the obstacle course with the lily pads. We had to jump on them. We needed to jump over the rope which was tied on two chairs. We crawled under three chairs, it was small for me. Then we jumped into the hoops. Then we did the tight rope. – Charlee

Yesterday we made a fantastic obstacle course. First of all we jumped on the lily pads. Next we dived over the skipping rope. We squiggled and squirmed through the tunnel then we jumped inside the hoops. We also did tight rope walking. It was fun. – Ethan

Yesterday we made and did an obstacle course. We first put lily pads down to jump on, chairs to crawl and squish under, hoops to jump really high in, a straight rope to balance on, three hoops to put over us. We also crawled over the hard table and did a limbo so we had to bend under a rope. The obstacle course was lovely and exciting. I felt great. - Poppy

Just one earth

Room 12 and the Albatross community are learning about different cultures and people in our world. We are also learning to look after our world, after all - we have just one earth!

Polka Dots

On Friday the Junior School had a wonderful treat. We were visited by the Polka Dots who were there to teach us some wonderful exercises to help us to stay fit and healthy. We danced to the happy music and we pretended to be all sorts of animals. It was such fun and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for a great visit Polka Dots!

Ten green bottles

Room 12 has been learning how to measure. We decided that we could not measure with our hands because our hands were all different sizes. We were going to measure with our feet, but our feet were different sizes too! What were we going to do? So we realised that we needed to use things that were all the same size - what about blocks? Great idea! Blocks would be perfect! So first we measured our books to see which ones were the tallest and the shortest. Then we measured our 10 green bottles before we hung them on the wall.We had to sort them from shortest to tallest. We got them in perfect size order. Aren't we smart!

Studying Africa

Room 12 and the Albatross community are studying different cultures for our production. We are busy learning about Africa. Here are some of the stories we have been reading so we can get information.

Stu Duval visits RBS

Last week we were very lucky to have Stu Duval in to talk to us about Story Telling. He was truly amazing and very funny! We were rolling around laughing! He drew this wonderful picture for us as a setting for our story. We also learnt what a good actor does on the stage. What a splendid morning we had!
