The Coastguard

Peter, Mary's dad, came to visit Room 12 to tell us about the important job that the Coastguard does in our community. We learnt that they are here to keep us safe. They help people at sea that are in danger from sinking or if they run out of petrol. They also rescue people from the sea, like the man that fell off his jet ski. They need powerful boats, a chart or map, a compass and a radio. Peter told us that it is important to wear life jackets when we are at sea and we should make sure that they fit properly. We also found out that the coastguard works with the police and firemen. We loved the pictures of the boats and the helicopters. Thanks for teaching us so much, Peter!
